How do you choose a honeymoon stay in Puglia?
Choose the setting first: countryside, town or sea. All 27 pass the same rule, so the setting is what tells them apart.
In the Valle d’Itria, Ottolire Resort, Relais Villa San Martino and Grand Hotel La Chiusa di Chietri all have a spa. The six near Fasano have a page of their own: Masseria Torre Coccaro, Masseria Calderisi, Masseria San Domenico, Bianco Riccio Suite Hotel, Canne Bianche Lifestyle Hotel and Borgo Egnazia. Torre Coccaro, Calderisi and Canne Bianche also state a private beach or private access to the sea.
On the Monopoli and Polignano coast, Il Melograno has a spa and a private beach club, Masseria Monet puts its spa in an old oil mill, and Borgobianco Resort & Spa Polignano has a spa of nearly 1,000 square meters. Vista Ostuni has a spa and a heated rooftop pool, a short walk from the old town of Ostuni.
If you would rather walk out to dinner, the Salento towns carry much of the list. In Lecce: Palazzo Luce, Patria Palace, Tivoli Palazzo 1880 Lecce and, on the coast at San Foca, Posia Retreat & SPA. Splitting the week
If you want more than one setting, use two bases instead of one: a masseria for the first half, a town or the coast for the second. Pair neighboring areas, such as the Valle d’Itria with Fasano and Savelletri, or Lecce with Otranto, and the transfer day stays short.
What should you check before you book a honeymoon stay?
Our tables do not hold what the spa costs, when the pool is warm or what the hotel offers couples. Ask whether the spa is included or charged per treatment, and whether the pool is heated outside summer.
