Privacy notice
Updated
The short version
The Puglia Edit collects personal data when you send the wedding enquiry form or the property form, and keeps it for no more than 24 months. Your wedding enquiry goes to a venue only if you tick a second, separate consent. Google Analytics 4 loads only after you accept it, and you can withdraw at any time from Cookie settings in the footer. The click counter on booking links stores no IP address and nothing about you.
This notice explains in plain words what happens to your data on The Puglia Edit. It covers the wedding enquiry form, the form for properties, the click counter on booking links and the analytics you can accept or refuse.
Who is responsible for your data?
The controller is [TO COMPLETE: legal name and address of the controller]. To reach us about your data, write to ciao.andiamoinpuglia@gmail.com.
What do we collect?
Browsing the site collects nothing about you from our side until you accept analytics. Beyond that, we collect personal data in three cases.
Wedding enquiry form. Your names, email, country of residence, optional phone number, wedding period, how flexible your dates are, number of guests, budget range, preferred areas, the venues you are interested in, whether you have a wedding planner, your message, the language of the page, and which of the two consents you ticked. We also record the time we received it.
Property form. The kind of request (correction, removal or interest), the property name, its official website if you give it, your name, your role if you give it, your email, your message, the language of the page and the time we received it.
Click counter. When you use a booking button, we add one to a counter that holds the day, the stay, the provider and the page language (English or Italian). It holds no IP address, no cookie and no personal data, so it is not personal data under the GDPR.
Analytics, only if you accept. If you accept analytics in the consent bar, Google Analytics 4 records how the pages are used: which pages are viewed, the approximate location, the device and browser, and how you arrived. It sets cookies for that purpose. If you refuse or ignore the bar, none of this is collected and no analytics cookie is set.
Why do we use it, and on what legal basis?
We use your wedding enquiry and your property request to read them and reply to you. The basis is your consent, which you give by ticking the first box. Without it the form cannot be sent.
We share your wedding enquiry with the venues you selected only if you tick the second, separate box. The basis is that consent, and you can send the form without ticking it. Nothing is forwarded automatically: an editor reads each enquiry and passes it on by hand, only to the venues you chose.
We use analytics only with your consent, to see which pages readers use and to improve them. The basis is that consent, and refusing it changes nothing about what you can read or do on the site.
To keep out spam we use a hidden field, a timer that rejects forms sent within seconds, and a bot check. The basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the forms usable.
Who else handles your data?
Cloudflare hosts the site and provides the database where the forms are stored (D1) and the email routing that delivers a notification of each enquiry to us. Cloudflare may process data outside the European Economic Area, under the safeguards in its data processing terms.
Google provides Google Analytics 4 and acts for us in processing its measurements. It loads only after you accept analytics, under Google Consent Mode, which starts with analytics storage denied. Your IP address is handled by Google under its own terms, and Google may process data outside the European Economic Area. We do not switch on Google’s advertising features, and we do not use the data for advertising.
Cloudflare Turnstile, a bot check, loads only on the wedding enquiry page, and only when you first click or tap into the form. It reads information from your browser to tell people from bots, under Cloudflare’s own notice.
A venue you chose becomes responsible for the copy of your enquiry that it receives, under its own privacy notice. The interactive map loads only when you click it, and then your browser asks OpenFreeMap for map tiles directly.
If the online form is not active, your email app opens with the enquiry ready to send. The message then travels through your own email provider.
How long do we keep it?
No more than 24 months from the day we receive it, after which we delete it from the database and from our mailbox. We delete it earlier if you ask.
Cookies and tracking
Before you choose, the site sets no tracking cookie and loads no analytics. A consent bar offers “Accept” and “Refuse” with equal weight. Only if you accept does Google Analytics 4 load and set its cookies.
To withdraw your consent, or to give it later, open “Cookie settings” in the footer of any page and change your choice. Withdrawing stops new measurement. It does not undo what was recorded before.
How long Google Analytics keeps its data is a retention setting of the analytics property, chosen by the controller in the Google Analytics settings. Data held in the property is deleted when that period ends.
The fonts are served from our own site. No advertising or social media scripts are loaded.
What are your rights?
You can ask us for access to your data, for a correction, for deletion, to restrict its use, to receive it in a portable format, or to object to its use. You can withdraw a consent at any time, which does not affect what we did before. If you withdraw the second consent after we sent your enquiry to a venue, we will ask that venue to delete it.
To use any of these rights, write to the email address above, with The Puglia Edit in the subject line. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority: in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, or the authority in your country of residence.
