About The Puglia Edit
Updated
The Puglia Edit is an independent guide to 169 stays in Puglia (Apulia), from masserie to four-star hotels in town, across all 14 areas of the region. Every fact comes from a property’s own website or an official body, with the date we checked it.
Who is behind The Puglia Edit?
Marco founded The Puglia Edit. He works in tourism and hospitality with data and artificial intelligence, and Puglia is part of his own life. His day-to-day work covers hotel distribution, management systems and booking engines, data analysis, GEO (making a place easy for AI assistants to find and describe correctly) and automation with AI.
He works with the RankWit AI team, which studies how hotels and destinations show up on Google and in AI assistants. The team’s public work on the subject is the Observatory described below. Nothing on this site comes from the data of any hotel or destination RankWit works with.
Why did a study of AI visibility lead to a guide to Puglia?
The study showed a gap. Asked where to sleep in Italy, an assistant leans on portals, blogs and the press, and pages that state names, distances, months and prices plainly are rare. Meanwhile, anyone choosing a masseria spends serious money on information that is vague, copied or outdated.
The study is the AI Visibility Observatory on Italian tourism, which the RankWit team built with TTG Italia and presented at TTG Travel Experience in Rimini in October 2026. You can read it at osservatorio.rankwit.ai.
Each month the Observatory puts the same set of 2,837 travel questions to five AI assistants with web search: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot, Grok and Gemini. Every question starts from a real Google search, and the survey of October 1, 2026 covered 737 places in Italy.
It also sorts the links the assistants cite into four types: tourism promotion sites, hotels, OTAs (online travel agencies) and other. For Puglia, the most cited source in that survey was Italia.it, the national tourism portal.
The Puglia Edit is Marco’s answer, in English and Italian. Its sister project in Italian, Andiamo in Puglia, covers events and places to see and has the same founder.
How do we choose what goes in?
We read what the property itself publishes, plus official tourism bodies, the Regione Puglia accommodation register for a stay’s type, category and address, and the MICHELIN Guide for awards. The range is wide: a five-star masseria, a four-star town hotel, a self-catering masseria and a small guesthouse can all be listed, each typed plainly. We use no guest reviews, ratings or scores, and prices appear as bands.
The editors have not visited these places, and each page says so. We draft the texts with AI assistance from each property’s official pages and check every draft against those pages. A person signs off each page before launch, and that sign-off is still pending.
The full method, with the criteria, is in How we select.
Who pays for this, and does it change what we write?
Nobody can pay to be listed, and money never decides which places are included or in what order. Some booking links may earn us a commission in future; today the buttons go to each property’s official website. The details are in the affiliate disclosure.
How can you reach us?
Write to us with a question, a tip or a mistake you have spotted. A person reads every message and replies.

If you run a property and a fact is wrong, the quickest route is to write to the same address with the page, the fact and an official link, as described on For properties. Our other contact details are on the contact page.
