Terrazza Papaleo is the rooftop bar, and the hotel opens it to anyone who wants a sunset drink. It lists spirits, wines and champagne, local products, and raw and cooked seafood, with vegetables from the hotel’s own organic farm and a view over the Bay of Otranto.

For dinner, the hotel points to Peccato di Vino, a restaurant next door in the same alley. It describes the cooking as refined gastronomic research, attentive to the seasonality of its products.

Who it is for, and who should look elsewhere

Couples and small groups who want to be inside Otranto on foot, with a Turkish bath and a rooftop drink at the end of the day, are the right guests. So is anyone planning a family reunion or a small wedding who wants the whole house to themselves.

If you want a confirmed pool, a garden or a car at the door, look elsewhere. Masseria Prosperi is a countryside option in the same price band, with a spa, two pools and a farm, and Palazzo Ducale Venturi is another palazzo in the area, with a spa and two pools.

Getting there

The hotel is in Otranto, in the Otranto area, and the last stretch is on foot, since the old town is a pedestrian area.
