Why it’s on the Edit

Ostuni Palace Hotel Bistrot & SPA is a four-star hotel in the historic center of Ostuni, at Corso Vittorio Emanuele II 218/222. Four stars is its official category in the Regione Puglia accommodation register, which lists 37 rooms in 2026.

Its strengths are a small spa, a restaurant under white stone vaults and an address a few steps from Piazza della Libertà, commonly called Piazza Sant’Oronzo. You step out of the door into the town the hotel calls the Città Bianca, the White City.

It is a town hotel in a historic palazzo (a town mansion), with rooms for people on a work trip and a meeting room as well as rooms for couples. The views it sells are over the old town, and the countryside is a drive away.

The rooms

The 2026 register counts 37 rooms, 78 beds and 37 bathrooms, up from 34 rooms and 68 beds in the 2021 list. The website names four room types. The Romantica con Vista page gives 14 square meters for two, so ask for the size of the others if space matters.

Standard rooms are pitched at people working in Ostuni or stopping for a short break, and some of them share a small inner terrace. The Romantica con Vista rooms look over the historic center, and one has a private balcony. They come with a double bed or two singles, and a rain shower or a bath with a shower.

The Junior Suites add a living area with sofas. The Tripla is the family option, sold as the room with more space to share.

The Romantica page lists a smart TV, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a hairdryer, a safe, a minibar and a kettle, and you can book a TEMPUR mattress and pillow. The 2021 register adds independent heating, a telephone, a lift and rooms for guests with disabilities.

Eating and drinking

The restaurant opens for dinner. Chef Tonio Moschettiere cooks Puglian food with a contemporary touch, and the wine list runs from Puglian labels to national and international ones. The dining room sits under large white stone vaults inside the historic palazzo.

Lunch is the job of the Ostuni Palace Café, open every day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Its brunch menu goes from a late breakfast to a light lunch, and it has a free Wi-Fi area if you need to work.

Breakfast is continental, served from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the restaurant room and, on hot summer days, on the outdoor terrace. The savory side has cold cuts sliced to order, fresh cheese, mozzarella, focaccia and warm homemade bread, and the kitchen keeps products for intolerances and allergies.

The restaurant also takes small private events: baptisms, confirmations, communions, birthdays, anniversaries and small ceremonies. Weddings are not on that list, so a wedding party should ask the hotel directly. The online shop sells local olive oil, labeled light and fruity.

The setting

The comune describes Ostuni’s old town as a maze of alleys and lime-washed houses on a panoramic hill. The cathedral stands at its highest point: built in the 15th century, with a Gothic facade, a decorated rose window and a baroque interior. The comune dates the town’s origins to the Messapian period, with later growth under Rome and in the Middle Ages.

Ostuni sits on the south-eastern hills of the Murgia, a karst area of Cretaceous limestone, dry and without rivers. In their place run the lame, seasonal stream beds, and the gravine, karst ravines.

Around the town, the comune counts many masserie, old fortified farms, both in the Selva ostunese and toward the coast, and names tourism and agriculture as its main activities. Villanova, the marine hamlet of Ostuni, has a tourist port and a castle built in the 14th century against pirate raids.

From the hotel, the coast and the masserie of the Selva and the coastal plain are a drive away, so a stay here means town evenings and daytime trips.

Couples and friends who want to walk out into Ostuni in the evening, use a small spa after a day out and eat dinner without driving will like it. Families can take a Tripla, and people on a work trip get a meeting room and a café with Wi-Fi. The estimated price band is 1 of 5, the lowest on the Edit’s scale, since no official rate was found.

Look elsewhere if a swimming pool, olive trees and a quiet night outside town decide the trip. Getting there

Ostuni Palace Hotel Bistrot & SPA is in Ostuni, in the Ostuni and the White Coast area. Brindisi is the nearer airport, and Bari is the alternative.

Aim for the historic center and Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. Inside the old town you walk; for beaches, masserie and the other towns of the area, a car helps.

Ostuni has a ZTL, a limited traffic zone where, the comune explains, a vehicle without a permit cannot circulate during the restricted hours. Ask the hotel which route reaches its car park or garage and whether that route crosses the zone. If you would rather not drive on arrival, ask whether the hotel can book a transfer from Brindisi.
