What the property says

Nina Trulli Resort is a masseria made of trulli and lamie, rural stone buildings of local limestone, created for agricultural work. The resort sits in the countryside of Monopoli, in contrada Tortorella.

It is very small: seven rooms.

Two restaurants, La Farm and Orto, work on the property, and the garden includes beehives and a vineyard.

Where you sleep

Six rooms are inside trulli and one is inside a stone lamia. The resort lists generous beds, climate control, essential bathrooms and private patios where provided.

The Suites are made of two communicating rooms and take up to three adults. The Junior Suites, also in trulli, take up to two adults, and each room has a private equipped patio with views of the garden or the vineyard. Check which category you are booking, because capacity differs: three adults in a Suite, two in a Junior Suite.

The Superior Doubles are the odd pair. One is in an authentic trullo, and the other occupies the masseria’s ancient stable.

Beyond the seven rooms, Nina Homes offers two independent properties in the countryside of Monopoli and the Itria Valley. One is a villa with an infinity pool and a private garden in a secluded spot. The other is a set of four trulli in the Canale di Pirro countryside, with a large private garden and an infinity pool overlooking the valley.

Eating and drinking

La Farm is the garden restaurant, with around 40 seats, where the resort says cultivation and cuisine meet directly. The garden includes beehives for honey and a vineyard for an alcohol-free wine project. There is also a small NO WASTE tasting experience, designed to value every part of the ingredient and reduce waste.

Orto has 12 seats and a contemporary plant-based tasting menu that changes monthly. The idea comes from chef Cinzia Mancini, and with so few seats it is worth asking about a table before you arrive.

Breakfast is a rural Puglian spread with ancient grains, fruit, warm ricotta, organic preserves and honey. La Farm is seasonal, open from April 1 to October 31. Cooking classes are also listed.

The setting

The resort places itself in the Valle d’Itria and along the Costa dei Trulli, a few kilometers from the Adriatic.

Monopoli is known as the city of a hundred contrade, and Tortorella is one of them. The grounds have a pool and solarium, quiet areas, green spaces and slow pathways.

The resort lists a boat tour to the Polignano a Mare caves, a ceramics workshop in Grottaglie, horseback riding, a mozzarella workshop and a catamaran excursion. A wine tasting near Locorotondo is on the list too.

Massages, yoga and personal training are available, and a local advisor helps plan outings. Wi-Fi is complimentary throughout.

Good to know

  • A group booking can take most of the house, since there are only seven rooms.
  • La Farm is open April 1 to October 31 only.
  • Orto seats 12 and changes its menu monthly.
  • Airport transfers are available on request.
  • A local advisor helps plan outings.
  • Nina Homes, two independent properties, are a separate option.
  • Opening months for the rooms, children and pets are not confirmed here.
  • Price band: 3 of 5 (estimated: no official rate found).

Who it is for, and who should look elsewhere

Food-minded couples, small groups of friends and anyone who wants a trullo stay with two restaurants on site fit well. The Nina Homes add room for those who prefer a private property with a pool. With seven rooms and 12 seats at Orto, book the table together with the room.

If you want a large spa, look elsewhere. Borgobianco Resort & Spa Polignano has a spa of nearly 1,000 m² with a heated pool, a sauna and a hammam, and Masseria Santa Teresa has a spa with a sauna and a steam bath.
