Hotel Villa

Why it’s on the Edit

Hotel Villa is a 28-room hotel on Viale La Testa in Bisceglie, between Bisceglie and Trani. The rooms sit in about 20,000 m² of garden, and the hotel says it is far from traffic and city chaos.

The history is unusual. In 1970 the site became the first night club of Bisceglie, the Music-Hall, and in 1986 the Music-Hall became Hotel Villa. The first agreements with football teams date to 1988, among them Barletta, and a natural-grass pitch is part of the grounds.

Angelo Ruggieri, founder of Ruggieri Hotels, had the original idea. New furniture was chosen in 2008 by the architect Michele Pons. The price band is 1 of 5, an estimate, since no official rate was found.

The rooms

The 28 rooms divide into nine classic rooms, six singles, six junior suites (called deluxe), three executive suites and four business suites. Deluxe rooms go up to 30 m² and executive rooms up to 35 m².

The classic rooms use wengé wood furniture, blue curtains and hand-sewn bedcovers, and the standard twins are meant for groups. Deluxe rooms add Iranian carpets. Executive rooms are pitched at families and friends.

Each of the four business suites has a living room with sofa, table and desk, and a bedroom. Azzurra has a 180 cm corner whirlpool bath with chromotherapy, and Rossini a jacuzzi and a shower with sauna.

Rooms for guests with disabilities are available on request. A cradle for children under three costs extra, and the reception is staffed 24 hours.

Eating and drinking

The restaurant is Villa dei Fiori, where the hotel says Apulian tradition and quality drive the kitchen. Dishes named on the page include strascinati alla barese and troccoli alla foggiana, plus fresh fish.

In summer the Café Madera restaurant opens among the olive trees and botanic plants. Room service and restaurant service run from 12:00 to 22:00, by reservation and subject to availability. The American bar is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

At the pool you can play ping pong or table football.

The setting

The setting is a large garden. The hotel describes a tropical garden with a little but comfortable pool. Pool hours are 9:00 to 18:00 as a summer service.

The spa, 4Emotions, has a Turkish bath, a whirlpool, chromotherapy, relaxing massages and herbal tea. The massage cabin plays with lights, sounds and colors.

The wellness center runs from 10:00 to 19:00 as a paid service, upon reservation and availability. The gym has two Technogym treadmills, a bike and two strength stations.

The hotel has three multifunctional halls for events. It holds the Ecolabel brand and uses photovoltaic systems and solar thermal energy for hot water. In some rooms there is no bidet, which the hotel presents as a saving, and a magnetic card in the room is meant to save energy.

Who it suits, and who should look elsewhere

Business travelers, sports groups and families or friends who want a quiet garden hotel with a gym and spa between two coastal towns will find a fit. So will people who want a pool but not a big one.

Hotel Villa is in Bisceglie, in the Bari and Trani area, between Bisceglie and Trani. Bari airport is the one to fly into.

A car or a taxi is the practical way to reach it and to visit Trani and the coast. The hotel lists parking among its services.
